First Look At Orgrim For World Of Warcraft Movie!

Legendary Pictures  has released it’s first picture of their upcoming War of Warcraft movie, directed by Duncan Jones (Moon).  This is Orgrim, a brave, warchief, and is played by Robert Kazinsky, who will be playing an updated version of Frankenstein’s monster in an upcoming TV pilot for Fox later this year.

“We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character,” says director Duncan Jones, who found his match when he cast Kazinsky as Orgrim in his movie Warcraft.

Orgrim’s likeness comes from the masterminds at Industrial Light and Magic, who took concept art from Blizzard Entertainment—creators of the massiveWorld of Warcraftvideogame franchise on which Jones’ film is based—and merged it with photographs and scans of Kazinsky to create the orc.

The CGI work for Orgrim was put in by Industrial Light and Magic who took the concept look from the games and also mapped Kazinsky’s likness to it.  “We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies,” Jones says. “We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.”

This looks pretty amazing and I’m really hoping that War of Warcraft movie is able to finally push movies based off video game properties into that next level much like Blade and X-Men did for comic book movies.

Warcraft hits theaters June 10, 2016.

Suicide Squad Set Pics Raises Many Questions!

I’m still having a hard time believing that Suicide Squad is being made.  When people are starting to wonder if comic book movies are going to become stale WB/DC doesn’t something completely strange and out of the ordinary and decides to make a movie based off their villains in a spy/action setting and staring two of Batman’s most iconic villains The Joker (played by Jared Leto) and Harley Quinn, making her big screen debut by Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street).

A pic from the set was sent out of Harley pointing a gun at Mr. J’s head but she’s in plain clothes, so is this a flashback?  Is this the ending and she puts him back in jail?  Does she go get him to join the squad?  Perhaps she’s tired of his crap and wants to kill him?

Here we have Leto and Robbie going through a scene with Leto sporting the neon green hair and the much debated tattoos!

We also have a look at The Joker’s pretty sweet looking ride but my question is.  What and how is he able to drive around, anywhere, in a car as nice of this and not have Batman swoop down and beat his senseless?  It’s not like he got out on good behavior.

This is a pretty huge game changer when it comes to comic book movies, this team up, of sorts, can really pave the way for comic book movies to evolve so they don’t become stale.  I’m really interested in how this will turn out and the impact it can have on future comic book movies.  Look for Suicide Squad to hit theaters August 5th, 2016!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Has Found Their Bebop!

The first half of the honorary duo that is Bebop and Rocksteady has been cast with Gary Anthony Williams taking on the role of the mutated Warthog.  Fans of the original cartoon have been waiting for the henchmen to make their big screen debut ever since the first movie but for some reason they never showed up.  While I didn’t really like the latest incarnation of the franchise, it did have some moments I really liked and it has massive amounts of room to grow and be better.

Returning cast members Megan Fox as April O’Neill, Will Arnett as Vern Fenwick as well as newcomers Stephen Amell (Arrow) as Casey Jones, and Tyler Perry was also recently cast as Baxter Stockman. All of the voice actors and motion capture actors are set to return with the exception of the voice actor and motion capture actors who helped bring Splinter, nothing has been confirmed if Tony Shalhoub will return to voice the turtles Sensei.   Michael Bay will be returning as producer alongside his producing partners from Platinum Dunes, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form and Dave Green has taken over the directors chair.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell is set to hit theaters on June 3, 2016.

RUMOR: Asa Butterfield Could Be Spider-Man!

asa butterfield, marvel, captain amercia, civil war, spider-man, gambitconI’m still a firm believer in the fact that they ought to secretly cast Spider-Man, put the actor in such an iron-clad contract not to speak of anything he is doing that is so bad they’ll take his the souls of his unborn children, and let us first discover who Spider-Man really is when he unmasks himself in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.  I know it’ll never happen, but I’ll still hold onto my little nugget of awesomeness.  On that note, rumors are coming down that Asa Butterfield is indeed the new webslinger but without a official announcement from Marvel this could quickly change.  Remember when sites were announcing that Joaquin Phoenix was going to be Doctor Strange?

I really don’t see anything bad with the casting, the kid is 18 so he can play someone a few years younger since Marvel has stated they are going for a high school Peter Parker.  Spider-Man is slated to appear in Civil War then move on to his new movie (again) where he will be firmly planted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…until Sony decides to be the crazy baby mama and suddenly decide she doesn’t want to let Spider-Man’s dad get him every weekend.  Stay tuned for more!

Underworld 5 Has Been Announced!

underworld 5, Kate Beckinsale, Anna Foerster, Scott Speedman, underworld: next generation, gambitconI remember when the first Underworld came out and I really enjoyed it.  It was cool, kind of new in the sense that we haven’t had a movie where two supernatural monsters were duking it out over hundreds of years but it wasn’t the amazing battle between vampire and lycanthrope we’ve been waiting on and the series started to dwindle and while the third one was had some cool moments, by the fourth one I was done with this series but now…I could still give less of a crap about this pending sequel, especially since they’ve decided to go with the most generic title Underworld: Next Generation.  Still not at that place where we’ll see Underworld: The New Pack, or Underworld: The Reckoning?

Kate Beckinsale will be returning but that’s about it at the moment.  Underworld 5 will be directed by Anna Foerster who has directed a bunch of tv stuff like Outlander and Criminal Minds, but she has a ton of experience behind the camera as a director of photography, second unit director, and assistant director in films like White House Down and Anonymous, as well as contributing footage to The Day After Tomorrow and 10,000 BC.

Underworld 5 is scheduled to film in Prague starting in October, and you have to assume that Prague in the fall is an ideal place to shoot a movie about ancient sects of vampires and werewolves battling each other.

James McAvoy Shaves His Head For X-Men: Apocalypse!

Bryan Singer, who is carrying the directorial duties of FOX’s upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse has sent out a pic of James McAvoy, who will once again play Professor Charles Xavier, of him finally getting his trademark bald head.

The Three Stooges Set to Return!

Earl Benjamin, CEO of C3 Entertainment, Inc. Alan Simpson, CEO of Grand Peaks Entertainment and Brian O’Shea, CEO of The Exchange announced today that The Three Stooges are returning to the big screen in a new action-comedy feature film, with Sean Hayes (Larry), Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly) all set to reprise their roles from 2012’s The Three Stooges.  Directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly are not involved at this time, which is strange and  their film having grossed about $55 million worldwide on a $30 million budget.

C3’s Earl Benjamin said, “We’re excited to be moving forward with The Exchange and Grand Peaks on the next Three Stooges movie. With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges and Cameron writing, this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of The Three Stooges.”

“The Three Stooges is an incredibly powerful brand, I am looking forward to give to the independent distributors the opportunity to participate in this commercial phenomenon,” said O’Shea.

Cameron Fay has been hired to write the script.

Despite it having a rocky start, I really enjoyed The Three Stooges.  I grew up watching the short films and laughed so hard and the movie had the same effect on me.  It was clear that the film was being made from a position of love and admiration for the original property and I am interested in checking out the sequel whenever it is released, even though The Farrelly Brothers will not be involved in directing.  No word on the release date yet.

Terminator: Genisys Reportedly Has A PG-13 Rating?!

Well, if you were alive and kicking when the first Terminator films hit theaters then I have some bad news for you, rumors are circulating that the newest entry in the franchise has been given a PG-13 rating.

Terminator: Genisys, gambitcon, pg-13, rating, movie“Well, our source close to the production of the movie has assured us all along that the movie will be Rated PG-13… we have described what we have witnessed and understand as fantasy style/comic book violence as being the back door out of a harder rating for the movie, CGI characters dealing the blows is something running throughout the movie,- not just in the Arnold Vs Arnold battle. We asked our source again more recently and they are still sticking with PG-13; with our source describing it as “something the studios prefer to do for marketing reasons”. Our understanding and translation of such a statement is…  “cash grab”. –                        theterminatorfans.com

It’s stuff like this that makes me sick.  One thing I have always stated and believed in is I’m willing to follow you and anything you say as long as you stay true to the rules you’ve built, if you start to bend or break those rules, then it becomes hard to follow the narrative of the movie.  This series was started and grounded in the R-rated territory, it’s part of the feel, the roots of the film, and changing that changes the world that the film was based in.  This isn’t an artistic decision, this is a financial one made strictly for profit and nothing else and really breaks down the excitement I had for this film to begin with.

One Big Star Wants To Play The Punisher-Give It To Him!

While talking to Collider about his upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, the interview took an interesting turn when Tom Hardy said he wanted to play The Punisher for Marvel.

tom hardy, punisher, marvel, disney, netflix, splinter cell, mad max: fury roadI heard Warner Bros. has a few more superhero movies, maybe one or two that they’re developing [Laughs].

HARDY: I want The Punisher… I want The Punisher, or Splinter Cell, I want something…I don’t know what I want.

You as Punisher could be very interesting.

HARDY: I’m not big enough to be The Punisher, I’m 5’9” [Laughs].

But I actually think that adds to the character.

HARDY: Frank Castle, I would love it. Is that him, isn’t it?

Yeah. It’s Frank Castle.

Tom Hardy has been waiting to kick-off the Splinter Cell franchise for years now, which in itself would be awesome, but I also like the idea of him putting on the skull Kevlar and beating the piss out of mob bosses.  Marvel reacquired The Punisher rights along with several of their other characters, which included Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and Blade.   What do you guys think?  Should Tom Hardy defect and jump on the Marvel train?

Has IT Found It’s Pennywise?

True Detective director Cary Fukunaga, who has taken on the writing and directing duties of the New Line produced It.  Based off the Stephen King book of the same name, the original story followed a group of outcast kids come together over summer break to take on a monster that’s haunting their town, battling their own personal monsters in the process.  For those who don’t remember, King’s popular book was made into a TV mini-series in 1991 starring John Ritter and Tim Curry, who played the clown and pretty much ignited my fear of clowns forever.  The mini-series was a real mixed bag if you ever go back and try to re-watch it.  I remember it scaring the crap out of me as a kid but revisiting as an adult it really doesn’t hold up well, especially with that crazy, out of no-where ending.

stephen king, film monster, will poutier, it, filmA film adaptation never happened given the size of King’s novel, but Fukunaga has been very vocal recently that the latest script will stay true to the King story while also giving the film a new look and it will be split into two feature films.  The production is really starting to pick up with rumors circulating they have possibly found their new Pennywise.  Will Poulter (“We’re the Millers”) is in negotiations to play Pennywise, the evil monster who lured in children disguised as a clown, in the upcoming remake of Stephen King’s horror classic.  While Tim Curry really owned that role, I’m not above believing there isn’t room for improvement.

Fukunaga said they looked into older actors like Mark Rylance and Ben Mendelsohn for the Pennywise role, New Line wanted to take a different route and go younger and Fukunaga could not say no after being blown away by Poulter’s audition for the part and felt he was the right choice for the role.

Of course they wanted to go younger, they’re more then likely trying to build a franchise off this, but I’m one to give the kid a chance and interested in where they are going to take this story.
